Beyond The Blue was established by Peter Mayhew to allow him to focus his attention on his areas of expertise as well as to bring together an impressive set of trainers and experts. His aim is to provide services to businesses, organisations and individuals with the intention of transferring skills and knowledge from one industry to others, for mutual benefit. With 20 years experience in the Licensed Retail Sector, the Security Industry & Event Management, Peter has always insisted in playing an active role when it comes to managing employees, systems and events. In his very diverse former roles he had the responsibility to manage businesses which grew out of all expectations under his guidance. Having a particular interest in the security industry, Peter made a point of developing his skills in this sector working with and managing security teams for many years, he has been instrumental in changing the methods used, from crude and aggressive to positive, professional and focused on customer service. This has been achieved through the use of intelligence led training. He realised the benefits of Conflict Management and Resolution Training (CMR) before it was made mandatory by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Developing new innovative systems and In-House Security Induction Training (IHSI) programmes is his speciality and he has developed many systems for companies to use in-house and at major events in order to manage risk and balance it effectively with business. Working at a senior management level in the Licensed Retail Sector managing bars, nightclubs, multiples and other licensed outlets, Peter has an in-depth knowledge of licensing law, having played an integral role at local level in both the interpretation of the Security Industry Act 2001 as well as the Licensing Act 2003. His understanding of both acts allows him to provide clients with informed advice and training based not just on the acts themselves, but also on the interpretation of the acts by the various licensing authorities with whom he continues to work. Having early on in his career made the realisation of the potential of young adults while working within the University sector, Peter has throughout his career employed and worked with young energetic individuals and trained thousands of young adults to be able to perform in positions with responsibility far beyond their years. He realises that the needs of a 55 year old and a 35 year old are very different from each other and how the needs of an 18-25 year old vary further yet. He has the ability to communicate with all these groups on their own level and knows how to get the best out of individuals. More then anything you’ll have to work hard simply to stop him, once he starts talking on any of the subjects in which he specialises.
