Course Description Award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing Course

The BIIAB Level 1 Award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing is the recognised qualification for front-line staff working on licensed premises, who are authorised to sell alcohol.

In order to sell alcohol in England & Wales individuals must either be a Personal Licence Holder or Authorised by a Personal Licence Holder.

For a Personal Licence Holder to authorise someone to sell alcohol on their behalf, they must train that person to a suitable level. Training records must demonstrate that they understand the legal implications of the sale of alcohol, have the knowledge to promote the licensing objectives and recognise their individual duty to sell alcohol responsibly.

The BIIAB Level 1 Award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing is a nationally recognised qualification which demonstrates a suitable level of training has been achieved.

The ARAR qualification also affords some protection to the personal licence holder, designated premises supervisor (DPS) and premises licence holders by strengthening the defence of due diligence in relation to the actions of their employees; where future prosecutions or a premises licence review may affect continued operations and / or result in significant financial penalties.

Sale of Alcohol to Young People - In this vital area, the responsible alcohol retailing course examines our unique 5 step process to prevent underage sales, which works in conjunction with your Challenge 21 / Challenge 25 policy; when properly enforced this provides a safeguard against test purchases carried out by the Police and Weights & Measures (Trading Standards) officers.
