SIA Door Supervisor Licence
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is tasked with regulating the security industry and awarding individual applicants with their SIA Door Supervisor Licence (Badge).
To be awarded a door supervisor licence candidates must have completed a Level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors (NCDS) course and passed the associated examinations.
Candidates who have attended the course and passed the associated exams can apply directly to the SIA for a door supervisor licence.
Licences applications are considered from individuals who are over 18 years old and the hold an NCDS certificate; candidates must also complete a criminal background check and provide supporting identity documents.
A door supervisor licence is required by anyone working in the UK on any premises licensed for the supply and consumption of alcohol or where regulated entertainment is provided
Anyone who holds a Door Supervisor Licence can work both on licensed premises and in a static / retail guarding position. Those holding a Security Guarding licence are not eligible to work on licensed premises.
Any un-licensed person who carries out a regulated activity (one which requires a licence under the Private Security Industry Act 2001) is liable for heavy penalties including; up to six months imprisonment and / or £5000 fine for the individual and an unlimited fine and / or five years imprisonment for the employer.
