Course Description – BIIAB Level 2 Award in Fire Safety

There are 27,500 fires in UK workplaces every year, which result in 21 deaths and 1,200 injuries; some of which are very serious.

The average cost to every business affected by fire is £21,000, but in some cases the consequential costs and loss of business from fire can be in the millions and fire often drives businesses into insolvency.

Compliance training in Fire Safety is a legal requirement for every employee in any workplace in the UK. This training should be delivered on induction and regular refresher fire safety training should be given.

Fire safety training should examine how to reduce the risk of fire in the workplace, provide knowledge on effective fire evacuation procedures, give details on how to call the emergency services, deliver the legal requirements in respect of reporting instances of fire / near-misses and demonstrate the respective use / effectiveness of different fire fighting equipment.

The BIIAB Level 2 Award in Fire Safety course examines the knowledge required to reduce the risk of fire in the workplace, to limit the damage caused by fire and to reduce the threat to human life.

The Level 2 Fire Safety course acts not only to reduce the incidence of fire, safeguard employees, protect businesses from damage and loss of income, but also meets the legal requirement for all employees to receive suitable fire safety training.
